As a sewing professional, my costumes are typically fully sewn. This year I wanted to challenge myself and start learning how to use foam in my costumes. I started with foam clay, which I have never used before. I was amazed by how easy it was to use. It is easily manipulated and handles the same way as clay. As it begins to dry, you can add water to it to be able to continue to manipulate it. Once it dries, it feels exactly the same as EVA foam, and sands easily. I do recommend priming before painting, I used about 5 layers of generic brand mod podge and it worked great.

A quick tip, I used a nail file to sand curves and in hard to reach places!
